Five Great Tracks for Cool Cats
Even houseplants love music, so you can imagine how much fun it would be to listen to a few classic tracks with your cat.
Whether you've got an iTunes library stocked with plenty of favorites or a vast CD and vinyl collection waiting to get a spin on your stereo, listening to music is a great way to spend time with your pet! It may be the perfect soundtrack to your pet’s play time with their cat toys. Do all cats like music, though? Studies show mixed reactions, with plenty of cats falling on the scale of "Yes, definitely." But the kind of music your cat loves isn't always guaranteed, so you'll want to try out a good variety. Why not start with these five classic and modern radio hits?
- “Honky Cat” by Elton John. What happens when you mix a bit of up-tempo Elton John piano work and classic country musical motifs into a hit pop song? This '72 hit, which is still getting airtime on radios. Its popularity is no wonder, because Elton John makes it clear that we regard our cats as cool characters for good reason. The tune is about as catchy as a toy mouse full of catnip!
- “Cat's in the Cradle” by Harry Chapin. Sure, it's more of a folk song about a father and son than it is about Chapin and his love of cats, but the heartfelt lyrics and iconic guitar picking are sure to be something even your pet can enjoy.
- “What's New, Pussycat?” by Tom Jones. This crooner's staple has outlived the Peter Sellers film it was written for by a good margin. More importantly, how many of us haven't come home from work to a cat and asked this very question?
- “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor. Help your cat feel like a champ with this triumphant, anthemic classic. Full of fist-pumping guitar riffs and heavy bass thumps, this song is sure to make your cat feel as powerful and imposing as his or her bigger, orange-and-black-striped cousin.
- “Little Lion Man” by Mumford and Sons. Is your cat looking for some rollicking mandolin mixed in with guitar for a heavy indie rock and country fusion? This catchy tune is sure to impress you, and doubtless the lyrics will help your cat plumb the depths of his or her psyche.
While the above songs are recommended for your cat with humor, you may want to consider a much wider variety of music, including classical and soft jazz. This content post is provided by the pet experts at Hartz.
