On Monday, July 22, 2024, a chartered plane departed from New Orleans Lakefront Airport in the early morning with more than 90 at-risk shelter pets from Louisiana and Alabama and arrived at Morristown Airport in Morristown, New Jersey. The pets were then transported in vans from the airport back to the receiving shelters that included St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center and Char Wills German Shepherd Rescue. Upon arriving at the receiving shelters, all the pets are evaluated and receive any follow-up medical care needed before being available for adoption.

The participating sending shelters for this flight from Louisiana and Alabama include Cara’s House, Iberville Parish Animal Shelter, Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services, Lafayette Animal Shelter and Care Center, Lafourche Parish Animal Shelter, St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter, St. Martin’s Parish Animal Shelter, Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter, and Save a Pet Rescue, Adoption, & Transport.

This Hartz Loving Paws volunteer event marks the third Good Flights sponsored flight by Hartz. To date, Hartz has been able to support the relocation of more the 200 dogs and cats through the partnership with Greater Good Charities Good Flights.

Volunteers from Hartz worked with Greater Good Charities to aid shelter pets.

"As a first-time participant in the Hartz Loving Paws & Greater Good Charities Good Flights event held on July 22nd, I found the experience incredibly rewarding. One of the highlights was getting the chance to hop up into the aircraft to help safely transport our feline and canine friends in their crates. Here’s to many more opportunities to help our furry friends find their forever homes!" - Matina Ypsilantis
