Hartz® Responds Proactively

In 2009, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reported adverse reactions from flea & tick control products had doubled since 2005 —mainly due to misapplication.¹ After an extensive evaluation of all flea & tick products, the EPA found most adverse drug events were minor, but there were major incidents, too. Misuse of dog products on cats is a big problem.

The EPA is now taking steps to correct these problems, including pet owner education and new label requirements. At Hartz, we not only agree with the EPA’s concerns — we are among the first in the industry to proactively amend our flea and tick labels and request an early EPA review.
